Eternal Valley Memorial Park is inviting members of Santa Clarita Valley scout troops and packs, community volunteer groups and individual volunteers to place flags on veterans’ graves on Saturday, May 25, in preparation for the Newhall park’s annual Memorial Day Tribute on Monday, May 27.
Check-in will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the park on Sierra Highway just south of Newhall Avenue in Newhall.
Please come in uniform if possible.
The ELKS Lodge will provide lunch to all those who help. A representative of your group, pack or troop should RSVP with Jerry Rhodes at jeryrig@Prodigy.net or by text at 661-803-0869.
Please include the Boy/Girl Scout Troop/Pack number, age group of scouts and number of scouts and adults.
Individuals or groups of community volunteers should indicate the number of volunteers and number of children, if any.
Eternal Valley will have available a few pilot hole makers for the flags; it is imperative to make a pilot hole to prevent the flagsticks from breaking. It is suggested volunteers bring some large screwdrivers or metal tent stakes for your troop to use to make the necessary pilot holes.
Special Note:
The Vietnam Veterans of America will have a table and supplies for volunteers to make thank-you cards for the veterans who will be attending the Memorial Day Tribute starting at 10 a.m. on Monday.

This follows my sending manager pictures of unsightly maintained office entry. He said they have budget cuts?? What, I told him a broken handicap sign etc. was unaceptable. Now, the big invitation to place anything on that property has a 1 week timeline. They have rules at Destiny.com, be aware, an advocate for our cemetary and not their .com. We are a dedicated City and deserve anything their state license and all of us have paid for. Maintenance and respect. Be aware, vigilent and make sure you don’t overlook the dignity here.
