LANCASTER – The University of Antelope Valley has promoted UAV baseball alumnus and three-year assistant coach Neal White to the position of Head Baseball Coach, effective immediately.

White is already hard at work preparing for the Pioneers‘ upcoming baseball season.

“Neal has been an upstanding member of the Antelope Valley Community and has been a part of the University of Antelope Valley community for nearly a decade,” said University President and CEO Marco Johnson after the hire.

“He knows what it takes to lead our student-athletes and to foster a successful baseball program,” Johnson said. “He has been a part of many accomplishments with the UAV Baseball Program, including four Cal Pac Championships and a trip to the NAIA World Series. I believe Neal will excel in this position and we look forward to seeing continued success in the baseball program under his leadership.”

A Millbury, Mass. native, Neal White moved with his family to the Antelope Valley at a young age and has lived there since. After initially going to Fresno State University out of high school, White transferred to UAV to become a productive member of the Pioneer baseball team from 2014-16.

He was named to the Cal Pac All-Conference Team during his senior season, the first year the program was a member of the Cal Pac, also winning the first of what is now four-consecutive Cal Pac Championships.

After graduating from UAV with an undergrad degree in Business Management in 2013, he would continue his education at UAV, earning both a Master’s of Education and Leadership as well as a Master’s of Criminal Justice in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

White would then be hired by his former college coach, Jacob Garsez to join the UAV coaching staff, where he primarily served as an outfield coach, co-strength and condition coach and as a base coach, with the program winning three-consecutive Cal Pac Titles with him as a member of the coaching staff.

As well as coaching, White also served as a member of UAV’s faculty, teaching multiple classes.

White will look to carry on the success that the program has already seen, saying, “I am both extremely humbled and excited to be named the next Head Coach for the University of Antelope Valley baseball program. The opportunity to be a part of these young men’s personal growth and development is an absolute blessing. This program’s continued success has been a product of the discipline, hard work and culture created by the players and coaches, both past and present. My goal moving forward is to continue to develop and maintain a culture that values discipline, attention to detail, and personal accountability.”
