The Santa Clarita Community College District Board of Trustees will hold a regular business meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in closed session. The open public session will be held at 5 p.m.
The closed session will deal with several items relating to litigation, as well as a Public Employee Performance Evaluation, Title: Acting Superintendent/President. Dr. Jasmine Ruys is the current COC Acting Superintendent/President.
The public session will consider approving the revised timeline and committee composition for the COC Superintendent/President Search and Selection.
The proposed Search Committee will include representation from key constituencies:
1 Executive Cabinet Member
1 Mid-Level Educational Administrator (Dean)
1 Classified Manager
1 Full-Time Faculty Union Representative
1 Part-Time Faculty Union Representative
1 Academic Senate Representative
1 Classified Union Representative
1 Classified Senate Representative
1 Student Government Representative
1 Community Member Representative (local educational partner)
Executive Assistant, President’s Office – appointed by the position
VPHR as the EEO Officer (non-voting) – appointed by the position
Pam Walker and Jim Riggs (consultants, non-voting)
The key dates in the revised timeline:
Finalize Seach Website and Recruitment Plan on or before Dec. 1.
Hold a special board meeting to review and approve all components of the Search Website and Search
Process. Tentatively scheduled for Dec. 2.
First meeting of the Search Committee – Orientation. Dec. 10.
Launch formal search. Open Application and Recruitment Period Dec. 5 through Feb. 2, 2026.
Second meeting of Search Committee Feb. 3. Review qualified applications, score and rank applicants Feb. 5-12, 2026.
Third meeting of Searech Committee to select candiates to interview Feb. 18, 2026
First leve in-person interviews with Search Committee week of March 9, 2026.
Selection of finalists March 12, 2026.
Finalists on COC campus for a special board meeting for interviews with the board March 23-25, 2026.
Appointment of the new COC Superintendent /President at a regular Board of Trustees meeting May 13, 2026.
New Supertintendent/President to begin employment on or around July 1, 2026.
The meeting will be held in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, UCEN Room 301 on the Valencia campus of College of the Canyons, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91355.
This will be an in-person meeting with the ability to view the meeting virtually.
