The Saugus High School Dance Team is already off to a great start this year. They spent the summer getting to know their new teammates and participating in several fun activities culminating in some enthusiastic work on their skills at the USA Elite Plus Summer Camp where Captain, Megan Stokes, placed in the top 10 Superdancers.
Now that Fall is here, the team has been busy participating in school events and community fundraisers while working diligently to prepare their dances for competition season. The dancers are looking forward to hosting their annual Dance Clinic for your kids. It is fun day of dancing and activities.
The clinic is for boys and girls in grades K through 12 and will take place on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Saugus High School Gym. No dance experience is necessary. Dancers from beginners to advanced will all enjoy the day.
Each child will receive a clinic t-shirt and have a great time learning some dance technique and a routine that they will perform for family and friends before the end of the afternoon. The donation fee of $25 (when registering by November 4th) or $30 thereafter includes the t-shirt, pizza, drinks, dancing, games and hairstyling and makeup for anyone who wants it.
The 23 talented members of the Saugus Dance Team took home 3 National titles last year alone and are looking forward to another great season. This year’s team includes Captain Megan Stokes, Co-Captains Jenny Gross, Camille Jones and Ali Naranjo, Juniors Brittany Dubron, Meagan Foertsch, Taylor Friedman, Roxanna Haserjian, Torey Itaya, Katie Lin and Ian Waschak, Sophomores Monica Bowcott, Emily Garwood, Taylor Harrington, Michelle Janossy, Alison Lutes, Tiffany Mazucca and Lauren Schreiner, and Freshmen Eliza Baron, Aliyah Haffner, Kellie Shanaghan, Hannah Thomas and Ashley Traber.
The Saugus Dance Team is self-supporting and all funds generated from the Dance Clinic will help provide support for competition entry fees, costumes, choreographers and coaches, props and equipment for the team.
A registration form is currently available on the team website at www.saugusdance.org under “Documents” or call Agatha Lin at 661- 297-1253 for further information. Walk-ins are also welcome. Help keep dance alive in our local high schools, while giving your child an enriching experience with award winning dancers by enrolling them in Saugus High Dance Team’s Dance Clinic.
