Janet Cheveres, event organizer/spin instructor, presenting the 2017 donation check to the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center with Marlee Lauffer, President of the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation and Terry Bucknall, Director of the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center.
The Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center, a service of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, announces a very special “fun and fit” event at the Santa Clarita Athletic Club on Friday, Oct. 12. Ride for a Cure and help fight breast cancer with Janet Cheveres during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“When I discovered that several regular attendees of my classes went in for routine screenings at the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center and received early diagnoses of breast cancer, I was inspired to do more to help the center fight this disease,” says Janet Cheveres, event organizer.
Cheveres believes that the role of the breast center in early detection and thus early, successful treatment is critical to survivability. With that in mind and a little effort, Ride for a Cure was born and has been a prosperous event for the past four years.
The Ride for the Cure Event includes a spin bike for two hours and the opportunity to participate in a great cause. Riders have the option to obtain “sponsors” to pledge donations for their participation in the event and will take part in raffle prizes, free dinner, dessert and water, and great music from DJ Mark Anthony during the event.
“I’m looking forward to another successful event this year on October 12th. It’s that time of year again where we urge you all to come out, clip in and get your sweat on for this worthy cause. It’s fun with a purpose!” says Cheveres.
