San Diego-based Petco announced Thursday that it has added two key leaders, hiring Jodi Watson as senior vice president, Petco Direct; and Spencer Insolia as vice president, Petco and president, Doctors Foster & Smith. The company has also named John Carcasi as senior vice president, Supply Chain & Merchandise Planning, expanding his previous role to encompass all supply chain and inventory related activity across the company.

“We’re pleased to welcome two experienced and accomplished leaders to the Petco team,” said Petco CEO Jim Myers. “We’re also proud to promote John Carcasi to an expanded role where his demonstrated leadership will make an even greater impact on our business. I’m confident all of these appointments will strengthen our future and position us well to achieve our omni-channel growth objectives, ensuring pet parents can get everything they need to take the best care of their pets whenever and wherever they need it, so they can get back to what’s really important – being together.”

As SVP, Petco Direct, Jodi Watson brings a wealth of omni-channel retail, e-commerce and strategic expertise to Petco and this new role. She will be responsible for leading the company’s multi-banner e-commerce businesses, including petco.com, unleashedbypetco.com, drsfostersmith.com and liveaquaria.com.

Before joining Petco, Watson served as president, Consumer Direct, at Wolverine Worldwide. Previously, she held numerous specialty retail leadership roles at Williams-Sonoma, Eddie Bauer and Circuit City. Watson has master’s degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree from Portland State University in Oregon.

“As a longtime pet parent and animal lover, I couldn’t be more thrilled to join Petco, a company with a trusted brand and a strong future in a great retail category,” said Watson.

As VP, Petco and President, Doctors Foster & Smith, Insolia will report to Watson and have responsibility for leadership and execution of the online pet prescription services and supplies business, acquired by Petco in 2014.

Previously, Insolia served as lead account partner at IBM and also held numerous marketing and merchandising leadership roles at SuperValu and Target. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona.

“I’m excited to take on this new role and help evolve and grow the already well-known and authoritative Doctors Foster & Smith brand and business as part of the Petco family,” said Insolia.

As SVP, Supply Chain & Merchandise Planning, Carcasi will have responsibility for Petco’s overall supply chain and inventory management with an eye toward improving inventory productivity and readiness. Carcasi joined Petco in 2013 and most recently served as SVP, Merchandise Planning & Inventory Management. Previously, he held various merchandising leadership positions at JCPenney. Carcasi holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in history, both from Texas A&M University.

Watson and Insolia both joined Petco this month. Watson will be based at the company’s national support center in San Diego; Insolia will be located at Doctors Foster & Smith in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
