Cameron Roberts, a midfielder from Chandler, Arizona, has signed to play for The Master’s University men’s soccer team beginning this fall.
Roberts, a two-time all-state selection, plays in the midfield and hopes to adapt his game to the collegiate level.
“Cameron likes to play in the midfield and create for his teammates,” said TMU head coach Jim Rickard, who is entering his 29th season as head coach at TMU. “He’s eager to learn and grow at this level.”
Rickard’s Mustangs are coming off a season in which they went 14-5 and nearly earned an automatic berth in the NAIA national tournament round of 16.
Master’s finished one point shy of winning the Golden State Athletic Conference regular-season title, which would have secured the bid, but the team still reached the conference tournament semifinals and is set to return a strong core from that group, headlined by All-GSAC players Luis Garcia Sosa and Justin Ikeora.
Roberts, who was selected all-state in Arizona’s Canyon Athletic Association in 2017 and 2019, chose Master’s because of the biblical education it offered.
“I love the commitment Master’s has for holding fast to God’s Word,” said Roberts, who was home-schooled. “That love for God’s truth really set Master’s apart.”
