A Granada Hills man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to an alleged DUI crash that killed his passenger, according to the county’s District Attorney’s Office.

Ian Pike, 26, is accused of being under the influence and behind the wheel of a 1996 Jeep Cherokee when it tumbled down a steep embankment.

Pike, who was not in the vehicle as it tumbled down a steep embankment, was hospitalized in the crash that killed Jacquelyn Cork, a 25-year-old woman from Redlands, who was the only passenger in the vehicle, according to CHP officials.

Pike was arrested in January and paid a $100,000 bond, said Ricardo Santiago, a spokesman for the District Attorney’s Office.

The charging range indicated that if convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, Pike could face a maximum of 10 years in prison.

Pike’s vehicle was found 1,500 feet below at the bottom of the ravine.

Five days after the crash, officials utilized the help of Timberline Helicopters to assist with the recovery of the vehicle.

The crew had to use a K-Max helicopter and an external load-sling to recover the vehicle from the ravine.

California Highway Patrol officers worked with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the collision.
