November has been a busy month for the Santa Clarita Auto Dealers Association. More than 125 children and adults gathered at the Santa Clarita Valley’s Boys & Girls Club Newhall facility on Nov. 14, to enjoy an early Thanksgiving dinner provided by the Association and catered by Salt Creek Grille.

A few nights later, hundreds of residents enjoyed ushering the holiday season at the city of Santa Clarita’s “Light Up Main Street” event in Old Town Newhall, co-sponsored by the Valencia Auto Center.

“The Santa Clarita Auto Dealers Association has supported many causes throughout our 19-year history,” said Don Fleming, president of the association.

In addition to the Boys & Girls Club and Old Town Newhall holiday event, the association has sponsored the city of Santa Clarita’s Hometown Heroes Military Banner Program, a scoreboard at Central Park, Optimist Safety Town, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Foundation, the SCV Senior Center, the Child & Family Center and local high schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District.

“The auto industry faces fierce competition within the Greater Los Angeles area, and the dealers represented by the Association understand that gives residents many choices when purchasing vehicles and they appreciate the opportunity to keep that business local,” Fleming said.

In 2016, motor vehicle sales and leases represented approximately 23% of the city’s annual sales tax revenue for a total of $7,335,148 in sales tax revenue. Over the past decade (2007-2016), nearly $55 million in sales tax revenue from the Valencia Auto Center has been added to the city’s General Fund.

That means more funds for new roads, road maintenance, sidewalk repair, and bridge expansions; parks, trails and open space; and free public entertainment, arts and events.

During the month of November, residents can enter to win a $1,000 cash giveaway sponsored by the Association. No purchase required. Winner will be selected on Dec. 4, 2017. Visit www.valenciaautocenter.com to enter.
