The Saugus Union School District today announced the appointment of Nick Heinlein to the position of Assistant Superintendent, Business. Mr. Heinlein comes to the Saugus District from a similar position with the Tehachapi Unified School District, Tehachapi and will officially join the district on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
The Tehachapi Unified School District serves nearly 5,000 students in three elementary schools, one middle school, one alternative education school and a comprehensive high school.
“Mr. Heinlein brings a wealth of experience as a business and fiscal services professional,” said Dr. Joan Lucid, Superintendent of SUSD. “He was involved in so much of the leadership as well as day to day business while at Tehachapi and brings that hands-on approach with him to our District. We are fortunate to have him and we look forward to his leadership joining an already accomplished team.”
The role of Assistant Superintendent, Business is a Cabinet level position and oversees the business and financial services, including the Facilities Management, Fiscal Services and Maintenance and Operations of the district.
Mr. Heinlein has been involved in education services since graduating from UC Santa Barbara in 2001. He has served as a teacher, tech support and administrator and in fiscal services before taking the position with the Tehachapi District in 2011.
“We are just starting to get rolling on our Measure EE projects and Mr. Heinlein’s arrival allows us to move forward in a much more efficient manner,” added Judy Egan Umeck, President of the SUSD Governing Board. “With his diverse background, there are so many great things that we know will get accomplished on his watch. We are very excited about this addition.”
