The Cardinals varsity girls soccer team is redefining the word stingy. On Tuesday, SCCS bested Buckley, 7-0. Two days later, the team battled league rival Archer to a 0-0 tie.
The win over Buckley extended the Cardinals’ winning streak to 10. Thursday’s contest against Archer broke the win streak, but extended the SCCS scoreless streak to 11.
On the season, SCCS (15-0-3) has allowed just seven goals while scoring 123.
The goals came early and often against Buckley. Lauren Gallagher scored three goals and teammate Chloe Edwards scored two. Susannah Gwinn and Desirae Dodson also scored for SCCS. Tiffany Shroyer contributed three assists with Makenna Gale, Edwards and Gallagher each adding one assist.
The Cardinal defense was keyed by Dodson, Elissa Phillipps, Madison Latch and keeper Shroyer.
SCCS is currently ranked No. 2 in the CIF-SS Division 7 ranking according to MaxPreps and No. 1 in the CIF-SS rankings.
The Mustangs accumulated 191 points on the strength of placing fifth in volleyball and 14th in women’s cross country. The men’s cross country team finished its campaign as the 15th ranked team, while women’s soccer ended the year tabbed as the 17th ranked squad.
