The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project is proud to announce the election of a new Executive Committee.

The Board of Directors of the SCV Youth Project elected the following officers: President, Anita Lombardi, of Federal Escrow Inc.; Vice President, Kathy Watterson, ReMax Santa Clarita; Secretary, Nancy Starczyk, of Realty Executives; Treasurer, Tom Hough, CPA; Martin Rodriguez, Wintrust Mortgage as Immediate Past President.

“My vision for the Youth Project is to remain financially stable so that we can continue to serve the thousands of students that we do each year.” said Anita Lombardi newly installed president of the board of directors.

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project is celebrating 18 years of providing free services to teens. In the past decade, they have touched the lives of more than 30,000 youth and 5,000 adults. Additionally, they have expanded their program from just a few campuses to now being active on all the high school and junior high schools in the William S. Hart District.

In the 2017/2018 school year, the Youth Project provided more than 2,000 direct service hours of support to over 200 youth (individual and group counseling) and reached more than 3,000 via outreach events in the Santa Clarita Valley with serious life challenges, including depression, suicide, grief/loss, peer pressure and drug/alcohol abuse, said Kim Goldman, executive director.

“The kids we work with are working so hard to make better choices and to learn better coping and communication. They are battling outside influences that distract them sometimes, and we are there to help keep them on track to a healthier lifestyle.” said Goldman.

Kathy Watterson newly installed Vice President, on why she joined the Youth Project, “As hard as it is, to see teenagers struggle, we are so honored that they keep coming back, asking for support. We hope we are making a difference.”

“I am honored to be elected as the new president for the next term for The Youth Project. I am looking forward to working with our board and staff to reach out to as many of the teens in our valley as we can that may be in need of our services. One of our goals is to make sure that all the junior high and high school students are aware of all the services we offer and at no cost ever. We look forward a successful year in fundraising events as well, through our Grill Master Challenge, Golf Tournament, Comedy Night and Poker. Here’s to a great 2019!” said Lombardi.

About the Executive Committee
Anita Lombardi, President – owner of Federal Escrow Inc., has been an active member of numerous non-profit organizations in SCV and has served on the board for three years.

Kathy Watterson, Vice-President – local realtor with ReMax of Valencia is an active member of the SCV and has served on the Youth Project board for 4 years.

Nancy Starczyk, Secretary – long time realtor for Realty Executives, has served on the board of directors and the executive committee since the Youth Project opened in 2000 and participates with numerous other charities.

Tom Hough, Treasurer – well-respected local CPA and has served on the SCVYP board of directors for 18 years and volunteers his time with Boy Scouts of America as well.
