Sep 21, 2017: “A View” Art Reception at The MAIN
Sep 21, 2017 07:00 pm

The City of Santa Clarita invites you to attend a free art reception on Thursday, September 21, 2017 to celebrate the latest exhibit at The MAIN. Participants will enjoy light appetizers, entertainment, and a chance to meet the artist, Bob Hernandez.

In addition to his role as the president and founder of ARTree Community Arts Center, Bob is a multi-versed, practicing artist from Santa Clarita. Bob recalls his independent thinking as a child that got him into trouble growing up but ended up paving the way for his unconventional approach as an artist. His talent combined with his divergent thinking led to his acceptance at CalArts. During his time there, he began to find himself as an artist. The experience also inspired him to never stop searching, trying different mediums and approaches that challenge him to communicate in a real way.

Bob’s choice of medium for this exhibit is watercolor, which allows him to experiment with opacity, translucency, brush strokes, bleeds, saturation, form, depth, and movement. The exhibit will also display a sprinkling of acrylics and oils. Some of the artwork in this exhibit was created around the theme of “A View.”

“I hope you enjoy my work, and I hope it speaks to you in a real way” – Bob Hernandez

Sep 21, 2017: SENSES Chocolate Factory at Main Street in Old Town Newhall
Sep 21, 2017 07:00 pm

It is a world of pure imagination at the SENSES Chocolate Factory on Thursday, September 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This Willy Wonka inspired theme truly hits all the senses! Savor something sweet at select food tastings from The Pie Tin and other restaurants; test your smell at the scented wall; watch as artists create works of art with candy as the medium; enjoy music from The G3 Band; and keep your eyes peeled so you can grab the elusive Golden Ticket.

Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker, so grab a drink from the on-street bar hosted by 8th and Rail, followed by food from The Grilled Cheese Truck, Slammin Sliders, and Sweet Beams – which will have select Wonka candies available for purchase.

The wildly popular SENSES block party, presented by Galpin Subaru, brings live music, food trucks, themed activities and adult beverages to Main Street every Third Thursday from March to October. Don’t miss this fun and festive adult setting right here in Santa Clarita.
