Thursdays @ Newhall’s 10 by 10 variety show continues to amuse and entertain attendees month after month. This free evening of entertainment is one you won’t want to miss.

Performing in September: Storytelling from Kat High and Claire Partin; Comedy from Aiden Park and Jeanne Whitney; Music from Tom Renaud, Heather Lockie and The New Mexican; Magic from Raul Fernandez; Ventriloquism from Dan Sachoff and the Film Short, “Da Capo”.

Sep 7, 2017: JAM Session & Concert – Mexican Folk Dance at Old Town Newhall Library

Dance to the beat, play an instrument, and experience something unexpected with JAM Sessions, fun, interactive music and dance events hosted in conjunction with the Ford Theatre Foundation. The evening integrates live dance instruction from professional instructors with live band performances.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and bring a chair if you just plan on listening to the music. JAM Sessions are participatory and centered around movement and music. All JAMs are FREE, and all ages and skill levels are welcome.

This month’s theme is Mexican Folk Dance.

Delight in the vibrant music and dance of Veracruz! Step up on the tarima (wooden dance platform) with Ballet Folklorico Ollin who will walk you through this rhythmic dance style. The JAM will end with a fandango celebrating the entire community. Live music from Mariachi Tesoro de San Fernando, an award-winning youth mariachi ensemble from San Fernando who won the National Arts and Humanities Youth Award from the White House in 2012.

Sep 8 & 9, 2017: Summer Art Festival at Tournament Players Club

The Santa Clarita Artists Association will present a Summer Art Festival at Tournament Players Club in Stevenson Ranch on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8 and 9, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The festival is free and open to the public.

On Friday evening, a free music night at the Patios will start at 6 p.m. with a live band performing for dinner patrons.

The following night, a free artists’ reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring live entertainment, appetizers, and desserts with a no-host bar.

More than 100 pieces of art by 25 local artists will be on display at the Summer Art Festival. Artists will provide live demonstrations in a wide variety of styles and media.

Sep 10, 2017: SCV Blues Pro Jam at American Legion Post 507

The SCV Blues Society hosts a monthly Pro Jam with a featured host band along with guest artists. Some of the best musicians around often join in on the jam.

Bring your friends and family and enjoy the show. Food and a full bar are available. All ages are welcome. Come hungry, come thirsty, and bring your dancing shoes.

There is a $5 entry fee, but the Host Band buys you a drink. You support the society and the Legion with your entrance fee and get a drink of almost equal value. What a deal!

Guests under the age of 21 are admitted free, and young Blues musicians are encouraged to join in.

Host band lineup for 2017 includes:

September 10 – Jim Scimonetti and Mother Blues

October 8 – TJ Sullivan and Friends

November 12 – Rick Berthod and Friends

December 10 – Wumblooso
