Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a woman who’s been missing for a year.
Around 4:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2015 was the last time 27-year-old Monique Figueroa was seen when she left her home, located in the 7200 block of East Avenue U-12, Littlerock.
Monique drove her car from the house to an unknown destination. The vehicle, a black 2004 Mercedes Benz, was recovered a week and a half later, on Saturday, May 30, in an abandoned shed in Juniper Hills. There was no sign of Monique, but there were signs of foul play inside the vehicle.
When Monique left, she left her two-year-old daughter in the care of her family. Having neither heard from, nor seen Monique for several days, her family became worried and filed a Missing Person report. Since the initial investigation and discovery of the suspicious circumstances surrounding the found vehicle, the case was assigned to Homicide Bureau detectives.
Investigators recently received a tip that Monique’s remains may be buried off the 11000 block of Pearblossom Highway in Palmdale. Detectives, cadaver scent dogs and Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner personnel investigated the tip and checked the area, but search met with negative results.
Monique’s family is concerned for her welfare and for the needs of her young daughter. They are asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information about the location of their beloved.
Monique is described as a female Hispanic, 5’3” tall, weighs 140 pounds, has shoulder-length brown hair, and hazel eyes. It is unknown what type of clothing she wore the last morning she was seen.
A reward amount of $10,000 dollars is being offered by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, in exchange for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the suspect(s).
Investigators are seeking any information as to the whereabouts of Monique, if you have information about this investigation, please call Homicide Bureau Detectives Karen Shonka or Wayne Holston at 323-890-5500.
