The Saugus girls soccer team extended its Foothill League winning streak to 18 games, 2-1, over West Ranch, but might have lost one of its best players for the season.
Stacey Atwater scored the second goal for Saugus against West Ranch, but left the game with a broken collar bone in the second half.
She gave her team a 2-0 lead. Serena Smith-Banas scored the first goal for Saugus. Kendall Moskal scored late in the game for West Ranch’s only goal.
The Saugus girls play Golden Valley on Tuesday.
The Santa Clarita Christian girls shut out Pacifica Christian, 2-0. Madison Utley and Lauren Gallagher each scored a goal for Santa Clarita Christian.
The Trinity Classical Academy girls blanked Concordia, 6-0. Beth Weil scored four goals and Olivia Sowers scored two. Kaeli Massetto recorded the shutout in goal.
The Canyon boys soccer team got a goal from Daniel Foster in injury time in the second half and beat Golden Valley, 1-0. Canyon is in first place in the Foothill League standings with a 3-0-1 record.
The West Ranch and Saugus boys played to a 2-2 draw. Connor Ashlock and Wade McMillon scored for West Ranch.
In college basketball, The Master’s College men beat Pt. Loma Nazarene, 66-63, as four players for the Mustangs scored in double figures.
Devin Dyer led the way with 15 points. Paul Brown had 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Master’s College women also beat Pt. Loma Nazarene, 78-57. Kimmy Iverson scored 20 points and hit six 3-pointers. Whitney Best had seven points and 10 assists.
In hockey, the Kings are home tonight for a game against the Ottawa Senators. The Kings have lost two games in a row and three of their past four.
The Senators have won two of their past three games, but are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Ducks on Saturday night. You can listen to the game tonight on AM-1220 KHTS. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
