Four men allegedly stole a van and crashed it at Cinema Drive and Valencia Boulevard late Friday afternoon, breaking gas and water lines and snarling rush-hour traffic in the center of Santa Clarita.
“We have four males who were in a stolen vehicle and they crashed it right there at Cinema Drive and Valencia Boulevard, and we took them into custody,” Lt. Leo Bauer of the SCV Sheriff’s Station said at 5:15 p.m.
“It was a white van, one of those transit vans,” Bauer said.
The crash occurred about 4:15 p.m. and the van ruptured a natural gas line and a water line at the intersection, he said.
“So we have the Fire Department and gas and water personnel out there right now trying to control those leaks,” Bauer said.
Further details about the four suspects aren’t yet available, he said.
“We have them here at the station, we’re interviewing them, we’ll get more later,” he said.
The four face charges of grand theft auto, Bauer said.
He said he was not aware of any injuries.
