The Tick Fire is 78% contained after scorching 4,615 acres of brush, destroying 29 structures and injuring four firefighters, Los Angeles County Fire Department officials reported at 7 a.m. Monday.
All evacuations have been lifted and all roads have been reopened.
The Red Cross evacuation center at College of the Canyons’ Valencia campus is now closed. The Castaic Animal Care Center is closed to new animals.
There are 509 firefighters still assigned to the Tick Fire, and they will remain on the scene with additional resources if the further need arises.
Firefighters will continue to perform spot checks through the burn area to prevent any chance of rekindling due to changes in the weather.
Monday’s objectives include looking for further opportunities to build containment lines and continuing to patrol the fire grounds indentifying any potential risk of rekindling.
Firefighters continue to monitor the weather and a ” rel=”noopener” target=”_blank”>Red Flag Warning will be in effect through Monday afternoon. Wind-prone areas will see gusts between 40-50 mph with sustained winds between 10-30 mph throughout Monday.
A Tick Fire local assistance center has been set up at the city of Santa Clarita’s Activities Center, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita 91350. The center will be open Wednesday, October 30 through Monday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
