1870 - Armantha Thibaudeau, community leader during early 20th Century and co-founder of chamber of commerce, born in Kentucky [story]
Armantha Thibaudeau

Spend your first days of fall laughing and listening to music at one of many shows at The MAIN, located at 24266 Main Street in Old Town Newhall. Tickets are on sale now for a variety of theatre, comedy and music shows. Adult beverages will also be available for purchase at select shows, in addition to concessions.

The 10 by 10 Variety Night occurs on the first Thursday of the month and features music, film, storytelling, magic, comedy and more. Ten performers, from a variety of genres, are selected to perform a 10-minute piece of their choosing. Don’t miss a 10 by 10 favorite, Kalakeke Pacific Island Dance Company, performing Polynesian dancing to live Tahitian drumming and music. The show is on Thursday, September 5, at 7:00 p.m. and is free to attend.

Comedy Mashup returns to The MAIN on Friday, September 6, at 8:00 p.m. This monthly show is half stand-up comedy and half improv, featuring comedians and improvisers from all over Los Angeles. This month, several up-and-coming comics will take the stage for an awesome evening of comedy. Nolan Culver returns as host and “Your Favorite Cast” rounds out the evening with hilarious improv. Tickets are $10 presale and $15 on the day of the show.

The Society Comedy Troupe is bringing a hilarious and energetic team improv show to The MAIN on Saturday, September 7, at 8:00 p.m. Similar to the TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” the performers ask for audience participation while creating improvised music, comedy and scenes. Grab your friends for an evening of laughs at this show that’s appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $15.

Our theatre production this month is “All Inclusive,” which is the second production from Wade Bradford and Christopher Flowers of The Big Sandwich Theatre Company, Santa Clarita’s very own acting troupe dedicated to full length original comedic plays. “All Inclusive” is a hilariously silly ensemble comedy based on a remote island in the dreary South Atlantic. Incredibly optimistic and eccentric resort owner Mr. Maca’a dedicated his life to creating a paradise for lovers after losing his own dearly departed wife 18 years prior. However, the resort’s first guests, Rick and Kathy Fernsby, find themselves in a horribly primitive environment with a savage native maid, a lascivious manservant, a conceited billionaire playboy and an oblivious resort owner with a very different definition of paradise. Fans of “Noises Off,” “The Play that Goes Wrong,” and The Big Sandwich’s previously produced and published play, “Change the Station,” will love this comedy romp. This is one not to miss! Performances are scheduled for September 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 8:00 p.m. and September 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for any patrons under the age of 18.

Note by Note is a free music night that delights audiences with a variety of genres. Bands, duos and soloists will perform a wide range of styles, including rock, folk, Celtic, Americana, blues, jazz, country, experimental, western and more! This month, don’t miss Heather Locke, who has shared the stage with fun., The Eels, Stone Temple Pilots and more. The show is Thursday, September 26, at 7:00 p.m. and is free to attend.

The Sidecar Music Series is back and better than ever as The Siren and the Poet visit The MAIN stage for some original progressive rock music. This local band regularly performs at music venues throughout Santa Clarita and is excited to jam at The MAIN. The show is Friday, September 27 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.
“Soundcheck” hosts its final show for 2019 with the musical stylings of four local acts. “Soundcheck,” presented by SCVTV Community Media Center, is a new music series that provides a platform for young musicians from the Santa Clarita Valley to show off their musical prowess with the performance of original songs. The show is Saturday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 presale.
