Katrina Graham
The Master’s College women’s track team tore up the road at the Bakersfield Half Marathon which resulted in senior Katrina Graham (Riverside, CA) bagging the individual title.
Four other Lady Mustangs achieved standards that qualified them for the marathon at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Gulf Coast, Alabama.
Graham, alongside senior Hannah Kellerman (Sartell, MN), kept each other moving throughout most of the race. Graham then took the initiative to break away finishing in a blazing time of 1 hour 22 minutes 2 seconds with Kellerman not far behind in 1:23:30.
Junior Charity Schroeder (Palmdale, CA) and senior Micayla Frankian (Saugus, CA) both had a breakthrough performance running 1:27:42 and 1:29:03 which rounded out the “A” standard qualifiers.
Freshman Morgan Pedrick (Valencia, CA) and junior Jessica Hawley (Canyon Country, CA) topped it all off with respectable times of 1:31:38 and 1:48. The first five Lady Mustangs earned a trip to Gulf Coast.
“Today’s efforts fulfilled or succeeded every expectation that we had,” commented head track coach Zachary Schroeder. “Katrina’s performance is the best we ever had with four other girls hitting a qualifying standard. The women look ready for a very exciting track season.”
The Lady Mustangs come back to racing in two weeks’ time for the Westmont Sunshine Meet hosted by Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA at 11:30 a.m.
