[Advanced Academics] – Golden Valley Virtual Charter School, a tuition-free accredited public school serving middle and high school students, in Ventura, Los Angeles, Kern and Santa Barbara counties, has scheduled two information sessions to help interested students and parents learn more about the program during open enrollment for the 2012-13 school year. The first session will be held Friday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. at Chesebrough Park, 23505 Sunset Hills Drive, Santa Clarita. The second session is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. at the tables behind the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center, 360 North Arroyo Blvd., Pasadena. Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Golden Valley Virtual Charter School is an entirely virtual program serving motivated, self-directed students in grades 6-12 who are able to work with a high degree of independence. The program offers a rigorous, standards-based curriculum; scheduling flexibility; multi-tiered levels of support; access to caring, knowledgeable fully credentialed teachers; assessment and accountability. Golden Valley Virtual Charter School complies with all California graduation requirements and offers a full middle and high school curriculum, including more than 15 Advanced Placement courses, a wide variety of electives and a service learning option. Students can jump-start their college careers with early graduation options and dual enrollment in college courses. Nationally recognized learning provider Advanced Academics supplies the program’s learning management system, web-based curriculum and online teaching staff.
