About Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center

The SCV Committee On Aging (SCVCOA) was formed in 1972 as a grassroots response to the needs of older persons in the Santa Clarita Valley and to stimulate and develop a community environment where the independence, dignity, and quality of life for senior citizens would be nurtured and enhanced.

SCVCOA was formally established as a Public Benefit Nonprofit 501(c) (3) Corporation in 1976, the agency, including its operation of the SCV Senior Center, has developed significantly over time to include designation as a Los Angeles County Focal Point on Aging since 1991.  This status was conferred in 1992 in recognition of the agency’s full range of quality services provided to a senior citizen population of more than 39,000 residents, sixty years or older within the agency’s 450 square mile service area that includes the Santa Clarita Valley to the Ventura and Kern County lines.

The SCV Senior Center provides services now to an average of 8,000 senior and/or disabled adult households annually through our wide spectrum of programs. On any given day, more than 700 individuals access one or more services from the agency. The SCV Senior Center is a well-respected effective and efficient nonprofit organization that employs 47 staff members and coordinates the effective utilization of over 300 multigenerational volunteers, who contribute over 35,000 hours annually.
