As we head into the last two months of the year, I want to share with you some of the events and happenings here at the city.

On Nov. 11, the city will be hosting a special Veterans Day Ceremony at the Veterans Historical Plaza in Old Town Newhall, located at 24275 Walnut Street, beginning at 11 a.m.

This free and well-attended event is a partnership between the City of Santa Clarita, the Veterans Historical Committee, the SCV Chapter 91 Blue Star Moms, Blue Star Moms of the Canyons Chapter 82, Prayer Angels for the Military, and the Knights of Columbus. The ceremony honors veterans and individuals serving in the military and their families. For more information please call (661) 250-3787, or visit santa-clarita.com.

Once again, we are partnering with the College of the Canyons, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and Public Health to offer free seasonal flu vaccinations on Friday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at College of the Canyons, east physical education gym, located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road.

The seasonal flu vaccination is recommended for everyone six months and older. Accommodations are available at the clinic for individuals with mobility challenges, and the vaccine is available while supplies last. For more information, please call (661) 250-3708 or santa-clarita.com/emergency.

I also want to take this opportunity to remind you to take a look at your emergency kits and evacuation plans. If you don’t have either, this is a great time to make that happen.
