Golden Valley High School will officially retire its first athletic jersey — that of GV baseball alumnus Scott Barlow — in a public ceremony at the newly renovated GV baseball Field on Saturday, Oct. 13.
As part of Golden Valley Baseball’s 4th Annual Battle of the Bats Home Run Derby, the school will officially unveil Barlow’s retired #42 baseball uniform.
Barlow came to GVHS as a freshman in 2007 and graduated as the Grizzly’s Athlete Of The Year in 2011. In the summer of 2011, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 6th round. Barlow signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Royals in 2017 and made his major league debut in April 2018.
The retirement of Scott Barlow’s high school uniform will serve as the opening ceremony to the annual Battle Of The Bats, a highlight of the fall semester. This year the event will serve to raise money for both the baseball and softball programs, as well as the Spina Bifida Foundation.
The event will kick off at 10 a.m. and conclude at noon, with lunch served at 11:30 a.m.

your cover pic is of the wrong player. Scott Barlow is #22 and there is no #58 on the teams roster. please try to get facts straight.
correction on jersey #’s. one site shows him with 58 another with 22. But the pics are definitely different
