3 from SCV Make UPS ‘Safe Driver’ List

Brenton Kemp of Valencia, Andy Mac Nair of Castaic and Stan Vensko of Canyon Country are among 130 Californians newly inducted into the UPS “Circle of Honor” for achieving 25 or more years of accident-free driving.

The delivery service said Thursday that California has a total of 534 active Circle of Honor drivers with a combined 14,996 years of accident-free driving. There are  9,537 UPS drivers in California.

California’s active record holder is Peter Pavlian of Yucaipa, with 41 years of accident-free driving under his belt. Nationally the distinction goes to Ron Sowder  of Ohio with 50 years.

“I’m very proud of these men and women,” said Gerald Mattes, president, UPS West Region. “To go at least a quarter century without an accident is a testament to the pride they take in their work and to the training they receive. My thanks go to all of them for the countless lives they’ve saved.”

UPS has 102,000 drivers worldwide, among whom 5,842 have driven accident-free for at least 25 years. Collectively the 5,842 have driven 5.3 billion safe miles during their careers, the equivalent of circling Earth more than 212,000 times.
