1965 - Signal newspaper owner Scott Newhall shows up for a duel (of words) with rival Canyon Country newspaper publisher Art Evans, who no-shows and folds his paper soon after [story]
headline

Proposed Taco Bell site in CastaicCastaic residents attending a Town Council meeting expressed their anger over a Taco Bell fast-food restaurant on The Old Road that already has a foundation.

The primary complaints were the impact on traffic and the restaurant’s design.

The 2,170-square-foot Taco Bell is being built north of the Lake Hughes off-ramp on the Old Road.

The owner of the Taco Bell franchise and the Town Council listened to concerns, but ultimately, the council’s advisory capacity would leave it without the final say, officials said Thursday.

  6. George Baida says:

Bunch of whiners, hey that’s a job for your kid or grand kid, they will hate their life working there so much that they will excel in life and go back to school, ???

  7. But, there is a Taco Bell at that 76 gas station. The better spot would have been across the street from the Mobile or even the old Burger King. So what is taking place of that Taco Bell that’s there now! Are they going to put a light there too?

  8. Man with everything closing down on that end of town they should be happy something is trying to open up. That place is turning into a ghost town.

  9. Monica Aquin good thing we didn’t buy in castaic. I wouldn’t want to live near neighbors that can’t appreciate Taco Bell.

  10. They don’t like taco bell ? ???

  11. its so funny how many places in Castaic have closed down. and more and more each day closed down eventually Castaic will be a ghost town lol hahaha ????

  12. Ayzu Amaris says:

Not angry at all, great news!! ??????

  13. 50 years ago, Castaic was just a truck stop place with a jail and a couple of restaurants. But omg! Have you folks been up there lately? Some really beautiful homes and neighborhoods have popped up! Its pretty and welcoming. When you see pictures with nothing but dry land and open space, it gives the wrong viewpoint. Same with Bakersfield. They’ve motivated people to build and in between farming panels are lively neighborhoods. And some very nice looking homes to boot. I know there are still wide open spaces…Palmdale has plenty of acreage. But there are a lot of beautiful new subdivisions that are affordable and well kept. I was surprised…these trips opened my eyes.

  14. Not true some of us are excited!!!!

  15. Joe Facciano says:

Taco Bell is still in business???

  16. Myk Halibut says:

    Top news for the day?

  17. Rudy Ten says:

Republicans love to bitch. “We love Taco Bell, not not near me”. LOL

  18. Well…it should be a Sonic….

  19. Raul Sanchez says:

Exactly! Its food and now there’s even more choices… enjoy, be happy!

  20. Tony Follett says:

can’t come up with an original greasy spoon? a corporate cookie cutter clone crappy resteraunt. you can clean pennies with the hot sauce, I’ve never eaten there again

  21. Run for the Border!!!

  22. Denny Twigg says:

I be willing to say, that only a few people are actually upset about this.

  23. Keith Dill says:

It’s Castaic. What did you think they would put there?

  24. Tight by my work near rye cyn that’s cool brings in a little more business for us

  25. It’s a truck stop people get over it. You are living next to the freeway there are going to be fast food restaurants everywhere

  26. Greg Brown says:

    Membership has its privileges. ?

  27. Scott says:

There was a Ralphs. What happened? People stopped cooking.

  28. There are many empty buildings in Castaic no need to build one that will cause traffic issues. Perhaps those of you not familiar with the area need to take time for education.

  29. Ruth Hines says:

I agree with you Debbie. Why not use an empty building and bring it up to code for this ?

  30. YUUUGE News! Did this make the LA Times?

  31. Brad James says:

Guessing they were hoping for another storage facility.

  32. Deborah Troncale says:

This location is going to be hazardous to the community. It will create more traffic exiting Lake Hughes onto the Old Rd. vehicles exiting the Taco Bell establishment will not be able to clearly seee traffic going South on the Old Rd. due to the downhill grade. Noise, headlights ,etc will be quite disturbing to the home owners on Stallion. It is an accident waiting to happen.

  33. Jeanie Paige says:

    Castaic is beautiful
