The burned-out and blighted Greens pub and putting course on McBean Parkway could be redeveloped into a 5-story hotel and 4,000-square-foot restaurant if the Santa Clarita Planning Commission shouts “FORE!” on Tuesday to a proposal that’s working its way through the city approval process.
The Oliver Hotel Proposal, submitted by Asset Builders Valencia LLC, looks to construct a “101,950 square-foot, 134 room, five-story, hotel that is proposed to be 60 feet in height,” according to a city staff report. “The proposal also includes a 4,000 square-foot, free-standing restaurant.”
It’s a redo of a plan that was in the works in 2008 when Sheraton Hotels & Resorts proposed a 7-story, 200-room hotel for the property. The Planning Commission signed off in 2009, but the project was appealed to the City Council with the request to conduct additional public outreach.
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts “was unresponsive to City Council’s direction and did not return to a future meeting,” according to the staff report.
Turn up the clock nearly a decade, and Asset Builders Valencia LLC submitted a new application in March, purchased the property and withdrew the Sheraton project.
“The hotel would provide extended-stay services to guests,” according to the report. “The proposed restaurant would operate independently of the proposed hotel, would be open to the public and would not be affiliated with the hotel ownership.”
The proposed hotel would includes 220 parking spaces – 39 more than are required under city code.

Sure just keep building and bring more people to the city.
What are they going to do about the Fault line that runs through the property? I say no!
Do not approve an “extended stay” hotel to be built in our valley. I worked for the City of Glendale Police Department for many years and the extended stay hotels bring a lot of crime to the city, including increased drug problems. Please contact those city police departments who have extended stay hotels and obtain crime information related to these establishments before approving!
More hotel space inside the city rather than just outside city limits — sounds good, at least the city gets to keep the occupancy taxes rather than that money going into the county’s coffers. And another hotel right by the marathon start/finish providing more rooms for runners is not a bad thing either.

The fire dept. would not build on this lot a decade ago because of the earthquake danger. There is a stream going right through it that was put into a storm drain (streams are usually indicators of faults). That’s why it ended up as a miniature golf course. Its hard for me to believe that the planning dept. does not know this. Did they somehow lose all the previous records on this property? How in the world could they put a building on top of a former stream/storm drain. Crazy – it will fall down in the next earthquake and if this happens someone should sue the City. Are we a third world country now that will let developers build anywhere dispite safety issues?

not since about 1992 …. most of the mall (built 1992) is 6 stories; other places are higher than 3 stories, too
Hotel is better than more homes! And we need to stop expanding into the hills and canyons. The traffic congestion will spiral out of control.
The hotel would be good. When I worked at Princess people coming from the WA office would often have to stay offsite because the Hyatt gets full and is the only decent hotel in all of SCV. I agree it shouldn’t be 100% extended stay…but there are some business extended stay hotels near my new job in Agoura Hills that are high quality and do not attract crime, they may just want to add a kitchenette which would be great for the contractors staying at Princess for weeks/months.

I thought our new city hall member’s were trying to tackle the issue of traffic. Doesn’t sound like it . A hotel is just going to bring more and more people.
