College of the Canyons sophomore shortstop Danielle Chatman has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association California Junior College South Region All-American First-Team.

The All-American designation comes on the heels of Chatman earning Western State Conference East Division Player of the Year honors.

She was also named to the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) All-State Team.

Chatman had a spectacular sophomore campaign for the Cougars in 2018, finishing the regular season with a .424 average, and a team-leading 10 home runs and 49 RBIs across 39 games. She also swiped 14 bases, scored 39 runs and reached base at a .507 clip, slugging .847 with 27 extra-base hits.

In COCs first round playoff series vs. Cerritos College Chatman finished 6-of-8 with four runs and three RBIs, including two doubles, a triple, a home run to help Canyons get the 2-0 sweep.

Chatman is now batting a team-high .444 heading into No. 8 COC’s SoCal Super Regional match-up with No. 2 Mt. SAC.
