College of the Canyons defensive back Raeshawn Roland (pictured above) will continue his playing career at the University of Montana after signing a National Letter of Intent with the Grizzlies football program.
The University of Montana is an NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision program located in Missoula, Montana. The Grizzlies compete in the Big Sky Conference.
In 2018, Roland was a key member of the Cougars’ top-ranked defensive unit that limited opponents to a state-best 9.5 points per game through the regular season, while surrendering just 10 touchdowns on the year.
Canyons posted a perfect 10-0 regular season record to claim the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) National Division, Northern League Championship.
Roland, who attended Arcadia High School, tied for the team lead with four interceptions, including a pick-six, to go with 17 total tackles.
At season’s end Roland was named a unanimous Southern California Football Association (SCFA) National Division, Northern League First-Team selection, in addition to being recognized as a member of the 2018 SCFA Scholar-Athlete Team.
He was also named to the 2018 Region III All-California Community College Football Team, one of five Cougars to earn All-State accolades.
Fourteen members of the Cougars’ 2018 conference championship team have signed with four-year schools so far this spring.
