02/13/17

Burglary – 25500 blk Hardy Place

Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s garage and stole his set of golf clubs and a turkey fryer. The victim stated that his garage was locked. There were no signs of forced entry.

Petty Theft / Possession of Burglary Tools – 24900 blk Pico Canyon Road

A male adult and female adult left the location with an iPhone 7 battery phone case (valued at $215.00) which they did not pay for. The suspects were detained outside the location by deputies responding the theft call. Upon searching the suspects, the male was found to be in possession of burglary tools and the female was found to be in possession of the stolen item. They were arrested for petty theft and possession of burglary tools.

02/15/17

Petty Theft – 25800 blk The Old Road

A male adult and a female adult with an infant left the location with six cans of baby formula which they did not pay for. They then left the location in a tan Nissan sedan. The store employee who saw the suspects leave with the items did not attempt to stop them. Total loss was $168.00.

02/19/17

Petty Theft – 25300 blk The Old Road

Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s dining room table which she had left unattended for two hours as the base of her stairwell. The victim was moving in at the time. Total loss was $600.00.

Tip of the Week: Preventing Thefts In Your Area

Preventing thefts in your area is as easy as locking doors, keeping high value items out of view, and checking your mail daily. If you must leave high value items in your vehicle, secure them in the trunk where they are out of view, and lock your vehicle. If you own bicycles, always lock them with a good quality lock whenever left unattended. If available, store your bicycles in your garage and lock your doors. If you do not have a garage, try to store your bicycles somewhere on your property out of view and lock them to a secure and permanent fixture. Check your mail DAILY, and try to use drop-off mailboxes for outgoing mail.

Thieves are not like fishermen. They do not keep their favorite fishing holes a secret. Word gets out quickly when an area is an easy target, which attracts more crime. Taking time to secure your vehicle and property will discourage thieves and help keep our community safe.
