This week’s SCVTV/California Superstores Outstanding Student of the Week is David Lim from West Ranch High School.
When it comes to studies, David takes a broad, long-term view.
“To me, I feel like having a really good academic career in high school will represent how well I will do later in life,” David said. “I really want to succeed and help people. So I believe that doing well now will help me achieve my goals later in life.”
David carries a cumulative GPA of 4.76 and his first try at the SAT netted him a 2160. He’s hoping to improve upon that.
“At that higher level there is just one or two questions that will get you a hundred points more,” the senior said. “I’m really looking forward to getting a 2250 plus. I’m studying a lot for it (now) because I wasn’t really ready when I took it. Now I’m preparing more and more for the test.”
After graduation this coming spring from West Ranch, David hopes to join his sister at Harvard, where he would like to study business with an emphasis on finance. His goal? Analyzing the economy and the stock market.
“I really like mathematics and I’ve taken macro-economics,” he said. “When I look at a stock I analyze it and I see how it’s doing against competitors, what it has on the competitors, how the industry itself is performing and how it’s going to perform. (Maybe) people are looking for alternative energy and things like that. I just like predicting… I think of how other people might think if they were buying this stock.”
Congratulations to David Lim of West Ranch, our California Superstores Outstanding Student of the Week.
