Court Appointed Special Advocates of Los Angeles, or CASA/LA, a non-profit organization that drastically improves the lives of abused and neglected foster children in LA County through trained volunteer advocates, will be hosting its first CASA Book Fair in collaboration with Barnes & Noble of Valencia December 8.
Between 10% to 20% of the proceeds on every in-store purchase made on December 8 at the Barnes & Noble in Valencia, CA will benefit CASA of Los Angeles’ foster youth advocacy services. The more sales made that day, the higher the donation percentage rate benefitting CASA will be, with over $10,000 in sales as the goal. Customers simply have to mention the CASA Book Fair before checkout. Additionally, any online purchases made at http://www.bn.com/bookfair between Dec 8 to 12 will allocate 10% of the sale to CASA/LA when customers use code 12047890 at checkout.
During the online campaign, supporters can purchase books from a list provided by shelter care, the place in Children’s Court where children await their court hearing. All books will be given to these children with proceeds going to CASA of LA.
CASA volunteers will be on hand to gift wrap purchases for donations that will support CASA’s life-changing work on Dec. 8th from 10am-2pm and members of CASA’s staff will host an information session for those interested in volunteering from 6:30pm to 7:45pm
ABOUT CASA/LA
Founded in 1978, CASA of Los Angeles is a community-supported 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to mobilize community volunteers to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children in the overburdened foster care system of Los Angeles County. CASA’s vision is of a Los Angeles where every foster child has an advocate and the opportunity to thrive. Through committed, highly trained everyday citizen volunteers, CASA brings the voice of a concerned community into the child welfare system. Studies have shown that children with CASAs receive more assistance and support than children without, and are more likely to be adopted or returned to their families and less likely to reenter the child welfare system.
