The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC) is pleased to announce the addition of veteran real estate executive, James E. Brown, as the organization’s Manager of Business Attraction.
As Attraction Manager, Brown will be responsible for lead generation, prospect development, enhancing broker services and implementation of the organization’s Business Attraction Plan. In addition, he will be working closely with partner organizations, such as the City of Santa Clarita, Los Angeles County, College of the Canyons, Spirit Holding and Newhall Land.

His broker and developer relationships, development background, industry knowledge and track record of bringing new companies to the Santa Clarita Valley are unmatched. The SCVEDC is proud to be working with such a talented community marketer,” noted SCVEDC President/CEO Jonas Peterson.
Brown is the Senior Managing Partner of The Everett Group and will remain with Newhall Land in a consulting capacity. He previously held senior-level management and partner positions with Newhall Land, CB Richard Ellis, Grubb & Ellis and the Sammis Company (Now Sares Regis). During his tenure at Newhall Land, he served as the company’s Vice President of Real Estate Development, playing a key role in the establishment of Valencia Gateway as Los Angeles County’s largest center for Business, Technology and Industry.
In addition to his broad professional experience, Jim has also served at the board-level with many local and regional business organizations including the Valley Industry Association (VIA), American Industrial Realtors (AIR) and National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP).
Friends of the Children – Los Angeles presented Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger with the "Power of One" award at their inaugural Women's Leadership Breakfast held Friday, Jan. 27 at The California Club.
