Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital will host the Santa Clarita Valley Concussion Seminar on Saturday, Feb. 24th from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Henry Mayo Center located at 23803 McBean Parkway in Valencia.
This conference will address the development of a seamless pathway for concussion management through an established referral network, from injury to return to play and learn. Newly state-mandated roles and responsibilities will be covered.
Katherine Snedaker, LCSW, executive director, PINK Concussions will be a presenter at the Santa Clarita Valley Concussion Seminar. Snedaker is an international advocate for concussion treatment. She was recently interviewed on ABC Television’s Good Morning America, and she appeared at the Super Bowl Injury Summit. In 2013 Snedaker founded PINK Concussions, a nonprofit organization dedicated to female brain injury. Pink Concussion’s mission is to improve the research, medical care, and community support for females with brain injury.
“I am incredibly excited to be presenting this weekend at the Santa Clarita Valley Concussion Seminar with Andrew Blecher, MD and Sarah N. Ehrsam, MA, ATC,” said Snedaker. “Our goal is to help educate local medical providers, school and sports leadership and coaches on developing a community primary care approach to concussion management.”
Andrew Blecher, MD, Sports Medicine, Southern California Orthopedic Institute, has lectured extensively on the subject of concussions at many national conferences. Dr. Blecher is one of only three certified ImPACT consultants in the greater Los Angeles area and is the director of the SCORE concussion program.

Sarah Ehrsam, MA, ATC, head athletic trainer at College of the Canyons is responsible for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries that student-athletes sustain while participating in intercollegiate athletics. Ehrsam is also an adjunct faculty member in the COC kinesiology department.
