Jojo DeLongSALEM, ORE. — Canyon grad Jojo DeLong, now a junior point guard at Willamette University, has been named Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference for the 2013-14 women’s basketball season, as determined in voting by the NWC head coaches.

DeLong averaged 12.9 points per game and tied for second in the NWC with 3.6 assists per game. She scored 323 points and registered 91 assists while starting all 25 games for the Bearcats. She was credited with 82 rebounds, an average of 3.3 boards per game. She led the conference by making 64 three-pointers during the season.

She was named NWC Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games played between Nov. 18 and Nov. 24.

In her three years at Willamette, DeLong has started every game for a total of 75 games played. She has accumulated 562 points, 231 assists and 221 rebounds. She has scored a total of 109 three-point baskets.

DeLong achieved a career-high 27 points against Pacific University on Feb. 4, 2014 and earned a career-high 10 assists versus Concordia University (Ore.) on Nov. 20, 2013. She grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in the same game against Concordia and also hauled down eight rebounds against Lewis & Clark College on Jan. 18, 2014.

“We are all very proud of Jojo for what she accomplished this season,” Willamette Head Coach Peg Swadener said. “What she brings to the team is so much more than just her stats. She makes everyone around her better on a consistent basis, and it’s nice to see her rewarded for her efforts with this award.”

This season, DeLong scored in double figures 18 times, including seven of Willamette’s last 10 games.  She provided three or more assists 17 times and hauled down four or more rebounds 10 times.
