Following last weekend’s 5th Annual Antique Appraisal Day at the Old Town Newhall library, the nonprofit group Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library has slated author events at the Valencia Library with Lisa Napoli this month and Luis Fuertes in April.

Both events are at the Valencia Library on Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia and are free to the public.

Lisa Napoli will discuss her book “Ray & Joan” on February 28 at 7 p.m. The movie “The Founder” starring Michael Keaton focused the spotlight on Ray Kroc, the man who amassed a fortune as the chairman of McDonald’s. But what about Kroc’s wife Joan, who became famous for giving away his fortune? Napoli will tell the fascinating story behind the historic couple.

Luis Fuerte will discuss his new book, “Louie, Take a Look at This!” on Saturday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. Fuis Fuerte is the five-time Emmy-Award winning former cameraman for the Huell Howser show “California’s Gold,” a hugely popular series that continues to run on California’s PBS stations even after Howser’s death in 2013. Fuerte has quite a few stories to tell.

Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library also remind residents to renew or apply for 2018 membership if they have not already done so. Memberships help the Friends support the library through programming and community engagement.
