Award-winning fiction writer Lisa Wingate will be the honored guest at a free author event at Santa Clarita’s Valencia Library on Wednesday, June 28 at 7 p.m.
Presented by Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library, the event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required to attend. The Valencia Library located at 23743 Valencia Boulevard.
Residents attending the author event will get a chance to hear Wingate discuss her most recent novel, “Before We Were Yours,” which tells a harrowing story based on firsthand accounts of the Tennessee Children’s Home Society and the infamously cruel Georgia Tam, who ran the orphanage largely unchecked.
Wingate’s novels have held positions on many bestseller lists and have won multiple prestigious literary awards including a Southern Independent Booksellers Association OKRA pick and ACFW Carol award-winner.

Light refreshments will be served and copies of the “Before We Were Yours” book will be available for purchase and signing. Seating is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The nonprofit Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library organization supports the library through advocacy, volunteer service, supplemental funding and fostering a close relationship between the library and the community. All proceeds from three bookstores and fundraising efforts support programming for the Santa Clarita Public Library.
