Santa Clarita Valley International School, a public, tuition-free charter school serving the Santa Clarita Valley, has hired veteran coach Ken Erenberg as athletic director, the school announced today.
Erenberg, who joins SCVi from his most recent position at the now-closed Albert Einstein Academy, draws on 12 years of experience as an athletic director overseeing middle and high school programs in sports including soccer, tennis, volleyball, football, basketball, softball, and baseball.
Erenberg has won 492 games as a head coach in his career to date, including nine high school titles, and has been named Coach of the Year 11 times by organizations including the Omega, Alpha, and Delphic Leagues and the Gold Coast Conference.
In his new post, Erenberg will oversee SCVi’s sports programs and teams, including football, flag football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, equestrian, track and field, cross-country, and golf.
“You’d be hard-pressed to find a teacher and coach more well-respected and celebrated in the Los Angeles area than Ken Erenberg, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to our SCVi family,” said Amber Raskin, co-founder and CEO of iLEAD Schools.
“I have been working with athletes for over 30 years. During this time, I’ve coached almost every sport, and have won titles in football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, baseball and tennis,” Erenberg said. “I’ve helped more than 50 students receive Division I scholarships, and I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge to SCVi,”
Erenberg is president and co-founder of the Santa Clarita Athletic Independent League and serves as compliance officer and league coordinator for the CIF Omega League.
He played college soccer at the University of Evansville and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge.
Prior to his tenure with Albert Einstein Academy, he coached varsity soccer and tennis at Montclair Prep in Van Nuys.
Erenberg has also taught history and English, played soccer professionally with the Los Angeles Exiles, and worked as a television producer running the sports desk at KABC News from 1991 to 1994.
He has created sports programs at four Jewish Community Centers across the Los Angeles area and is the father of two boys.
