Lancaster Sheriff’s Station is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who attempted to lure an 11-year-old girl into his vehicle.
The incident occurred Thursday morning, August 15, 2013, as the victim walked home from New Vista Elementary School, located at 753 East Avenue K-2 in Lancaster. The suspect approached the victim in his car, near the intersection of Avenue K and Challenger Way, Lancaster.
The suspect attempted to entice the child into the vehicle, but she did not get in. The child rejected several other of the suspect’s attempts as she continued walking eastbound on Avenue K.
A passing motorist observed the interaction and became concerned for the child’s safety. The motorist made a u-turn and the suspect sped away, likely in response to the motorist’s presence. The motorist saw the victim was frightened, so she drove the victim home and notified law enforcement.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 30-50 years old, with a thin build and a moustache. He was last seen driving a white compact vehicle.
Likenesses of the suspect are depicted in two composite drawings attached to this press release.
If you recognize the suspect in the composite drawings or have any information regarding this incident, please contact Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Detective Melissa Sullivan at 661-940-3857.
