College of the Canyons student-athletes Sascha Marcellin (women’s soccer) and Cole Bullock (football) have been named the COC Athletic Department’s Women’s & Men’s Student-Athletes of the Week for the period running Oct. 17-22. Marcellin and Bullock are the eighth set of honorees for the fall 2022 semester.

Marcellin was instrumental in the Cougars’ back-to-back conference wins vs. Santa Monica College and L.A. Valley College.

The sophomore defender played her natural position and was later inserted into the lineup as an attacking forward, with that move immediately being dividends. In the match vs. Santa Monica, Marcellin gave her side a 2-1 lead with a goal in the 47th minute. In the 67th minute it was Marcellin again making an impact, this time by drawing a penalty in the box to earn her side a penalty kick that was converted for a 3-1 COC advantage.

Marcellin was back at it on Friday night vs. L.A. Valley, with the Saugus High School grad delivering the final goal to seal the Cougars’ 3-0 victory over the Monarchs.

Bullock turned in a dominant two-way performance in the Cougars’ 27-14 road victory over Allan Hancock College on Saturday.

Defensively, the sophomore linebacker finished with a game-high 12 tackles, including solo of the solo variety, to lead the Cougars. Bullock also recorded an interception which was eventually overturned due to penalty.

The Sierra Canyon High School graduate also got involved on the offensive side of the ball, hammering into the end zone on a one-yard touchdown run with 6:37 to go in the first quarter to help give Canyons a 14-0 advantage.
