NORTHRIDGE – Senior third baseman Nolan Bumstead has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Second Team for Division I Baseball, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday. A four-year letterman from Calgary, Alberta, Bumstead has earned a cumulative 3.90 grade point average over his time at CSUN. Bumstead received a pair of Big West All-Academic Team honors in his career, and helped the Matadors post a program record 3.05 GPA last fall. He will earn his degree in electrical engineering this fall.

He posted new career highs in several categories including runs (29), RBI (29), walks (20), hits and home runs. The hard-nosed third baseman tied for seventh place in the Big West in sacrifice flies (4) and tied for ninth in homers. During the year, Bumstead collected 14 multiple-hit games and hit safely in 41 contests.
Bumstead made 209 career appearances for the Matadors including 199 starts. He hit .281 at the plate with 204 hits, 97 RBI, 84 runs, 30 doubles and 13 home runs.
