NORTHRIDGE – 2018 Big West Conference Player of the Year Savannah Horvath was selected honorable mention All-American by FastPitch News Tuesday.
Horvath wrapped up one of the most decorated careers in CSUN history when she was named Big West Player of the Year May 15. The senior led the league in home runs (16), runs (60), total bases (132), slugging percentage (.781) and on base percentage (.507) while ranking second in doubles (16), third in RBI (41) and second in stolen bases (24).
The senior from Las Vegas also ranks in the top 25 in multiple categories nationally including total bases (16th), runs per game (1.02 – 22nd), slugging percentage (23rd), and home runs (25th). She is the third Player of the Year from CSUN in the last four years, following Taylor Glover who won the award in 2017 and Katie Hooper in 2015. Horvath was also named first team All-Conference for the fourth year in a row, marking only the ninth player in league history to be named first team All-Conference four times.
Horvath was selected third team National Fast Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-West Region May 17. This was the second time Horvath has been named All-Region as she earned second team honors as a freshman.
Horvath was taken by Moh-Beel! USA with the 17th overall pick (fifth round) in the American Softball Association (ASBA) Draft June 6. Founded in 2018, the ASBA is based in Mobile, Ala., the league features four teams; Moh-Beel! USA, Outkast, Team 3, and the Future 1s. Competition will be played at Satsuma High School and will begin June 15 with games being streamed on the ASBA Network (http://network.asbasoftball.com/).
