Canyon High graduate Alysia Montano career struggles at the IAAF World Championships continued early Wednesday morning in Beijing as she was unable to qualify for the 800-meter final, the event she is currently the U.S. National Champion in.
“I was clipped on the inside enough 2 throw me off balance, tried to collect myself and my regaining steps got me tangled to fall,” said Montano via Facebook.
Montano was able to finish the event, running a time of 2 minutes and 9.57 seconds, good enough for seventh, but not good enough to qualify her for the finals.
Montano did attempt to appeal saying she was obstructed and should be allowed to move on to the finals, but was denied in her attempt.
Montano is the current U.S. National Champion in the 800-meters after winning the event earlier this summer.
