Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a woman on fraud charges in Canyon Country Friday afternoon after she allegedly solicited motorists for money to pay for a child’s heart transplant.
Here’s the story from the station’s Facebook page:
“We received several calls (Friday) afternoon about individuals standing at the corners of Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road, approaching motorists asking for money.
“The signs they were holding claimed they were seeking donations for a child’s heart transplant.
“A deputy responded to the location and made contact with a female. Upon questioning her, it was determined that it was a scam, and the money being collected was not for a heart transplant.
“The deputy arrested the female on fraud charges.
“As soon as the other individuals soliciting donations saw the deputy arresting the female, they all took off.
“The money that the female had collected totaled almost $200.
“Please be advised that scammers will say almost anything to make a buck. They know how to pull on the heartstrings of good, kind-hearted people.”

Finally!!!!!!????????????????????
About time!!!
This why I don’t donate. It’s sad that we can’t trust.
goFundMe and other websiteslike that one are the Future of How many Americans pay for Medical bills, travel expenses, Financial trouble. What is real and what is not
Thank you deputies! I was right there at a stop light and they would literally come up to each car in your face with their signs.. seemed fishy to me, glad I didn’t give in. People who actually need organ transplants can wait a long time for a compatable one.
I can’t believe people can deceive like that I always give what I can. I will think twice next time poor people that really need it what a shame.
These people spoil it for those who truly are in need. Good job deputies!
Sunday down in San Fernando — at Maclay/Foothill I saw girls walking with signs like these
I saw them too.
Why would you donate anything to anybody??!
