NEWS RELEASE – This spring, College of the Canyons, in partnership with The Signal and KHTS AM-1220, will host two spring Job & Career Fairs, which will provide local job seekers with employment opportunities in various industries and career fields.
The spring 2013 Job & Career fairs will take place at the following dates/times:
- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the COC Valencia campus
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the COC Canyon Country campus
The fairs, which are free and open to the public, will feature a variety of employers seeking to fill entry, middle and upper level employment opportunities.
The fair’s virtual corner, sponsored by KHTS, will allow job seekers to apply to jobs with companies that could not attend the fair in person.
“This will be a great opportunity for job seekers,” said Anthony Michaelides, director of career services at the college. “Employer attendance has steadily increased over the past three years. As the economy is picking up steam and with the fair’s virtual job fair component, even more companies are participating.”
Because many companies will direct job seekers to apply to jobs online, Job Fair attendees are encouraged to visit the websites of companies who will be present at the fair and apply to jobs before the day of the event, added Michaelides.
The COC Career Center will also be hosting the workshop “Preparing for the Job Fair” from noon to 1 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the college’s Student Center, Room PDR-3, located on the Valencia campus.
Prepare With Resume Rallies

In the weeks leading up to the job fair, the college’s Career Center will host a pair of resume rallies for job seekers to have their resumes critiqued and updated, free of charge, on a walk-in basis.
The COC Resume Rally events will be held at the following dates/times:
- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April. 1, at the Valencia campus (staff dining room in the Student Center)
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at the Canyon Country campus (Quad 1, Bldg. B).
