At least 3,900 people were left without electricity Wednesday afternoon as a result of three outages reported by Southern California Edison.

“At 1:23 p.m., we had an outage that affected 3594 customers,” Edison spokeswoman Susan Cox said.

At 3 p.m., power was restored to some, but at least 2,156 customers were still without electricity, she said. Those customers were largely in an area north of Highway 14, between Golden Valley Road and Via Princessa.

Power was expected to be restored by about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cox said.

Two outages in Castaic affected 348 customers. These were described on Edison’s website as maintenance work with power expected to be restored by 5 p.m. Wednesday.

“The outage affecting 339 customers was a planned outage to replace cable in the area,” Cox said.

Power was expected to be restored to those customers by 5 p.m.

The other Castaic outage affecting nine customers was done to replace utility poles, Cox said, noting power to those nine was restored shortly after 2:30 p.m.

City of Santa Clarita officials issued a social media message reporting traffic lights at Via Princessa and Sierra Highway were out.
