[KHTS] – The Master’s College baseball team beat Bethesda, 9-3, and won its fifth game in a row.
The Mustangs, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, scored three runs in the first inning and built a 7-1 lead in the third inning. Bethesda is ranked No. 17 in the NAIA.
Ryan Shackelford was 1-for-2, drove in two runs and scored two runs for The Master’s College.
The Master’s College was selected as a site for the opening round of the NAIA Baseball National Championship Tournament.
The Master’s College earns an automatic berth in the NAIA tournament for hosting the opening round.
The tournament will feature five teams in a double elimination format. It begins May 12.
In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Denver Nuggets, 103-92, but Blake Griffin picked up his 16th technical foul of the season.
He will have to sit out the Clippers season finale against the Portland Trail Blazers tonight.
The Clippers will open the NBA playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and play the Golden State Warriors.
In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost in 12 innings to the San Francisco Giants, 3-2. The game went into extra innings after the Giants rallied back from a 2-1 deficit in the 9th inning to tie the game.
The Giants would rally again in the 12th inning and scored the game winning run off a single off of Dodgers pitcher Brandon League.
Game 2 of the series between the Dodgers and the Giants is tonight. Paul Maholm starts for the Dodgers against Ryan Vogelsong for the Giants.
