Jacqui Marshall is now a two-time All-American.

One week after the conclusion of a superb 2013-14 campaign, the women’s basketball team has been honored with the selections of seniors Jacquelyn Marshall and Zoe Scott to the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball All-America teams.

Marshall was honored for the second year in a row, this time as a first-team choice, while Scott was a first-time, honorable mention choice. The two were also selected All-GSAC (Golden State Athletic Conference) earlier in March.

A forward from San Clemente, California, Marshall made her second and final season in the Mustang frontcourt a memorable one, posting team-highs of 16.7ppg and 10.7rpg (343 total, shattering a 27-year old single-season mark). She also paced the squad in field goal percentage, free throws made, steals, and blocked shots.

She notched 18 double-doubles (sixth in the NAIA), scoring in double figures a team-best 29 times and pulling down 10 or more rebounds on 19 occasions. She tallied a season-high 29 points vs. Merrimack (MA) on November 29, 2013, and pulled down a season-best 21 rebounds against Wayland Baptist (TX) on December 16, 2013. Marshall led the GSAC in rebounding and blocked shots, and was third in field goal percentage, and fourth in scoring.

Zoe Scott was named to the All-American Honorable Mention team.

Marshall is the program’s first first-team All-American since Tiffany Webb (2004-05) and only the third in school history. Erin Buescher was the first to earn such honors in 2000-01.

Meanwhile, Scott (Spokane, WA) capped a stellar four-year career with her first postseason honors. Starting all 33 games, she led the Mustangs with 70 three-pointers and became the program’s all-time leading shooter from behind the arc, finishing with 239 career trifectas. She also became the 12th player in program history to reach the 1000-point plateau.

Scott was second on the team in free throw percentage, assists, and steals, and was third in scoring (9.3ppg). She scored in double figures 15 times, tallying season-highs of five three-pointers and 21 points against No. 1 Vanguard on February 4, 2014.
