A railroad track winds along the middle of a piece of paper with logos of conference opponents littered along the way. Dates and results, too.

At its end lies the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament, where the Mustangs are set on earning an automatic bid to the NAIA national tournament.

The point of the drawing, also posted in TMU’s locker room, is this: The season goes fast. Don’t take anything for granted.

“People don’t often understand how quickly it goes,” Vince said.

The Mustangs made the most of back-to-back home dates this weekend, finishing the two-match sweep with a 3-0 win over Ottawa University Arizona on Saturday – by scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-18.

Kayla Sims led the No. 11-ranked Mustangs with 11 kills, 16 assists and seven digs. Jane Cisar and Regan Tate followed with seven kills each as Master’s (21-3, 10-0 GSAC) came away with its 11th straight win and its fifth sweep in GSAC play.

The difference Saturday, Tate said, from a Friday night win over Arizona Christian that wasn’t without its struggles, was confidence and a renewed focus on the scouting report.

“We had to shut down their main options,” Tate said. “No. 1 (Jorie Mayfield, seven kills on 22 attempts) and No. 26 (Gianna Kioa, eight kills on 28 attempts), and I think we did that really well. We also needed to win on the backline, serving.”

Master’s made 14 service errors against ACU. It made seven against Ottawa, but also tallied 11 aces, four of them from Mackenzie Delo.

Rebecca Davis added three aces and said she felt Master’s showed more poise Saturday.

“I think we played with a really calm, peaceful manner today,” she said.

Sarah Park added 13 assists for Master’s, which now faces a quick turnaround.

The Mustangs will host Hope International on Tuesday at 7 p.m. with only seven matches remaining after that. The train keeps rolling.
