The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of auto dealer owner and community leader, Don Fleming, as the organization’s Co-Chairman.

In this role, Fleming will join fellow Co-Chairman Bill Kennedy in leading the organization’s efforts to strengthen the Valley’s economy.  According to Kennedy, “I am excited Don has agreed to serve as co- chair.  He has been a champion of our community for many years and was one of the earliest supporters of our organization. We will all benefit from his positive energy and ‘get-it-done’ attitude.”

Each Co-Chairman serves a staggered two-year term. The co-chair structure allows the SCVEDC to utilize the diverse leadership and complementary skills of its board of directors, while preserving continuity from year to year.

“We are blessed with a great wealth of talent, experience and leadership on the SCVEDC Board of Directors. With the co-chair model, we can pursue multiple projects, leveraging the networks and abilities of our co-chairs,” noted SCVEDC President/CEO, Jonas Peterson.

Fleming is the co-owner of Valencia Acura with his wife, Cheri. Together, they have grown Valencia Acura into one of the  top 25 Acura dealerships in sales and one of the highest ranking customer satisfaction dealerships in the country.

Mirroring his business success, Fleming is regularly recognized for his community involvement and philanthropy in supporting healthcare and public safety initiatives. Most recently, he was honored along with wife Cheri by the American Cancer Society for their work in bringing awareness to the cause. Past honors include having been named “SCV Man of the Year” in 2004, “Volunteer of the Year” in 2009 by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and “Citizen of the Year” in 2010 by the Elks Club.

In addition to serving on the Board of the SCVEDC, Fleming is also the current President of the Santa Clarita Valley Auto Dealers Association, President of the West Ranch Town Council, member of the Boys and Girls Club Executive Committee and Director of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Foundation.
